Manager of business development, Mecardo
As Mecardo’s Business Development Manager, Andrew is responsible for managing both the strategic direction and day-to-day operation of Mecardo. Andrew has a strong agricultural background with extensive understanding of grain markets and commodity risk management. Andrew has a strong background in the grain industry having worked in various roles in grain marketing and logistics both in the UK and Australia with both large and small traders. Andrew holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business & IT from the University of the west of Scotland, and a Master of Agribusiness from the University of Queensland.

Andrew has a background in farming. He was raised in the Riverina on Mulberrygong, a property near Hay. After securing a degree in Agricultural Science at the University of Sydney, he spent eight years farming in both northern and southern NSW. A move to wool broking in 1991 saw an interest in market analysis burgeon. Following a stint in Adelaide with Elders in the mid-1990s, he and his family moved to Wagga Wagga in 1997 to start Independent Commodity Services (ICS), with the help of Holmes Sackett and Associates. ICS services a wide section of the wool industry ranging from growers through brokers to traders and exporters. Andrew is the market analyst at ICS.
Senior Client Advisor & Market Analyst
Angus Brown began work as a livestock market analyst for ACA in 2003 after completing an Agricultural Science/Commerce degree at the University of Melbourne. From early in his career at ACA, Angus has had extensive experience in developing risk management strategies for cattle producers and lot feeders. Through this work, he has developed a deep understanding of the drivers of the Australian cattle market, which he has successfully transferred to sheep and lamb markets. He also provides advice to grain growers and consumers on the use of derivatives in hedging strategies. Angus recently moved back to Hamilton to take a closer interest in the family farm, where he implements his knowledge of markets on a daily basis. He uses his strong analytical and communication skills to provide weekly commentary and analytical articles for Mecardo.
Market Analysis & Wool Trading Manager
Prior to joining ACA, Matt began his career in 1993 with ANZ Bank as a technical analyst for foreign currency and interest rate markets. Matt progressed onto the currency trading desk, both in Australia and London. In 2005 he left ANZ to pursue a career in teaching. Matt spent six years in the education sector initially teaching VCE Economics and then moving onto special needs education. From early childhood, Matt has always had an interest in the agricultural sector. In 2012, he decided to move his family to a hobby farm on the outskirts of Ballarat where he could pursue a more rural lifestyle. Most recently, Matt worked as a property manager for two local real estate firms in Ballarat. Matt holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance from RMIT and a postgraduate degree in Education from Monash University.
I grew up in southern NSW on a Family Farm consisting of enterprises in Cereals, Rice, and Corn. Since finishing high school I worked on my Family Farm for 4 years organizing and manging operations, oversing business decisions and trying to better myself. In 2017 I began studies at Marcus Oldham College to Graduate with a Bachelor in Agribusiness.
Marketing and Business Support Coordinator
Olivia completed a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Degree (Hons) at the University of Sydney in 2014, specialising in Agronomy. Since then, she has been working in various roles within the Agriculture supply and marketing industry with experience in rural merchandise distribution, procurement and agronomy. Olivia joined the Mecardo team in 2017, further developing her skillset in data analysis and project consultancy.

Rob is the Managing Director of Ag Concepts Unlimited, an independent specialist agricultural advisory service and publisher of Mecardo. Mecardo provides the latest market analysis and outlook for cattle, sheep, wool and grain markets. Rob has over 30 years of agricultural experience, including 11 years as a senior wool specialist with Elders advising in the marketing and risk management of agricultural commodities.
